History

Bethel Mar Thoma Church started as a chapel of the Chicago Mar Thoma Church in 1991. The chapel met in a rented hall belonging to the Nazarene Church of Tinley Park. On September 1, 1994, the chapel bought its own church building. His Grace the Rt. Rev. Dr. Zacharias Mar Theophilus, the diocesan bishop, dedicated the building on November 13, 1994. The chapel was elevated to the status of an independent church under the name Bethel Mar Thoma Church on January 1, 1995.
